A South Devon conference centre has officially been recognised for its hard work in helping to sustain tourism. The Riviera International Centre at Torquay was among a number of businesses throughout the county which received accolades in the Devon Environmental Business Initiative awards 2006, awarded early this year. The Conference Centre walked away with the runner up award in the Sustainable Tourism category, narrowly being pipped to the post by the Dartmouth Golf and Country Club. “We recently were recognised with a Silver Award for Green Tourism” commented Managing Director, Barry Cole. “Since then I have been really taken aback by the continues enthusiasm of all the teams at the Riviera Centre to find further improvements that help sustain the environment and drive out costs wherever possible.”
